Goksu Avdan is currently pursuing his PhD in the Industrial Engineering department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). He obtained his MSc in Industrial Engineering from SIUE and secured his BSc in the same field through a dual diploma program in collaboration with SIUE and ITU (Istanbul Technical University).
His research spans various domains, including deep learning, computational biomechanics, human factors and ergonomics, non-linear dynamics, complex systems, biomedical signal processing, and time-series analysis within biomechanical systems and applications. At present, my research studies have led to 6 peer-reviewed journal publications and conference proceedings, with 4 additional studies under review or in progress, and I have made 5 conference presentations. Goksu has also served as a reviewer for "Biomedical Signal Processing & Control", 2023 IISE Conference, and 2024 HSPI Conference.
An active member of several professional organizations, he is affiliated with IISE, IEEE, EMBS, INFORMS, and ASQ. He received IEEE BHI’23 NSF Student Travel Award, the Research Grants for Graduate Students (RGGS) from SIUE in 2018 and the Research Grants for Doctoral Students (RGDS) in 2021. Moreover, for his exceptional teaching capabilities, he was bestowed with the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award at the doctoral level by SIUE in 2022.
